Steve, Spencer, Dunk and I arrived at the beach around 9am, only to find that the wind that had been howling all night had eased off... Not really enough after what we had been expecting, so it was off to the cafe for a 'heart attack breakfast' and then back to the beach.

There still wasn't a lot of wind and Chris and Derek were just going out with 17m kites. I thought about joining them with my Wipika, and Dunk set his 13m up and went out too. I decided to rig my 6.3 and my big board before going kiting ready to go windsurfing. Shem then turned up and we pfaffed around on the beach for a while, which meant that by the time I had rigged, the wind had picked up enough to go windsurfing anyway.

Steve, Spencer and I then had a good time sailing in the biggish waves with 6m sails, but the wind continued to pick up and I soon became overpowered with my 6.3m so changed down to my 5.7. Again, this was perfect fo a while and I started boosting some bigger jumps, but a sqaull came through and we were all completely and utterly overpowered. We then all changed down to our small wave-boards and 5m sails and went back out. At first I was still overpowered, but after putting on masses of downhaul I was just well-powered up and having a perfect session. Lots of big jumps, flat landings, tail first landings, nose first landings, long jumps and high jumps! Plus some off-the-lips on the way in. The water was pretty bumpy too and at time skitttering across the chop on the face of the waves at maximum speed was pretty exhilirating.

After an exhausting few hours of this, we all came in for a bit of a breather and to allow Spencer to adjust his footstraps, before getting back out there.

Before we went out Spencer mentioned about going for a forward loop, so I watched his first run, but there was no sign of it!! I then jumped on and and just decided to go for my first forward ever, right in front of Steve as I had to have a witness. I actually got most of the way around. I was nowhere near to sailing away from it, but it was a start and a milestone in my windsurfing career.... My first ever Forward Loop attempt!

I got back on and asked Steve if it had actually looked anything like a forward and he said it did, so that was it.... Time to get loopy. On my next run I went for one right in front of Spencer. Again I didn't make it, but he looked pretty impressed by the fact that I'd gone for one, and then suddenly realised that it meant that it was his turn next!!

Spencer and I then spent a while just watching each other go for loops. Both of us got close on occassion, and both of us had a couple of spectacular crashes too. It wasn't long before my ear felt as though it was on fire and three times its normal size, and Spencers back was a little sore.

Then, on about my 6th attempt I DID IT.... My first ever FORWARD LOOP and I sailed away from it!! I didn't get far after sailing away from it as I was more interested in looking behind me to make sure Spencer saw it, and punching the air with my fist as I couldn't quite believe it myself!!

Apparently it looked pretty good too!!! :)

I did try another one afterwards, but didn't make it, and Spencer had a few more attempts. On one he landed in the right position but without his feet in the straps so was able to waterstart away from it, so was pretty stoked with that. he then started getting tired and had some pretty amusing bail-outs half way around... I found them amusing whilst watching from the beach anyway.

All in all and absolutely perfect day anyway, which was just made into probably the best day ever by the looping session at the end.
